Pine Needle Weaving
Pine Needle Basket Weaving
Saturday, June 3 from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM
Join us at the SLO Botanical Garden as we explore the ancient art of pine needle basket weaving in the Oak Glen Pavilion on Saturday, June 3 from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
Artist Elizabeth Bear will guide attendees through the process of creating beautiful, fragrant and sustainable pieces of artwork at this intimate workshop.
“A basket reflects the person who makes it… There’s no machine that can make a basket” states Ms. Bear.
Just bring sharp scissors, imagination and a bagged lunch, as Ms. Bear provides all materials and her masterful insight. Each participant will make their own basket and start a second basket to work on at home. Workshop also includes a lecture on sustainable harvesting and tree kindness.
Workshop Cost is $100 for Garden members and $130 for non-members. Limited class size. To register call 805.541.1400×303.
Reuse Your Water
How to Reuse Your Water
with Mladen Bandov
Saturday, June 10 from 1 PM – 2 PM,
followed at 2 PM with a free docent-led tour.
As the rains this year have filled our reservoirs and groundwater basins, we can let out a collective exhale of relief and count our blessings. We should expect though for the dry and wet years to continue to cycle as they always have. Reusing water in our landscapes is one small but effective way to plan ahead for the days when we must conserve and want to keep our landscapes healthy. Greywater, recycled water, rainwater harvesting, low impact development, and other tools and techniques can help save water and money over many years. Come learn about the basics of greywater and rainwater harvesting and how to take actions to be ready for whatever the future might bring. Presented by Mladen Bandov.
Presentation is followed by a free docent-led tour in the Garden at 2PM.
Presentation is donation based.
Suggested $5 for members/$10 non-members.
No preregistration required.
