A Journey through the World of Incense: Botanical Scents: Flowers, Herbs, Sap, and Barks
In this series, embark on a cultural and spiritual analysis of potpourri from antiquity to the present--uncovering historical traditions and techniques, and learning to create your own base fragrances at home. Take classes individually, or enroll in the whole series for a discounted price (use promo code AJTWI).
This class begins with a multimedia presentation on plant parts and a discussion on the olfactory sense, with a hands-on "smell-and-tell." You'll leave with an understanding of the ethnobotany of these natural items, their provenance (Greece, Egypt, Ethiopia, etc.), and their scientific classification. You also take home some incense and and ideas for how to continue experiencing the benefits of "close smelling" outside the classroom.
