Champaign, IL, The U. S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) of Illinois will be offering funding for the following Initiatives throughout the state: Mississippi River Basin Healthy Watersheds Initiative (MRBI), National Water Quality Initiative (NWQI), Driftless Area Landscape Conservation Initiative (DALCI), Joint Chiefs Landscape Restoration Partnership (Kinkaid Lake LRP), and Monarch Butterfly Project (Monarch). Producers who have agricultural, pasture, or forest land in an Initiative project area can apply for assistance through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) to implement a range of conservation practices that will improve water quality, decrease soil erosion and improve wildlife habitat. To compete for funds in one of the initiative project areas, producers must complete and submit an application by one of two application cutoff dates, January 20 and March 17, 2017. Producers are encouraged to apply for EQIP financial assistance at any time throughout the year, as NRCS accepts application on a continuous basis.
