Seedling Classes Wed: 3-6 years old, 9:30 & 11 a.m.: Thu: 24-36 mo. old, 9:30 & 10:45 a.m.; Fri: 18-24 mo. old, 9:30 & 10:45 a.m. $11 for 18-36 month old, $9 member; $13 for 3-6 year old, $11 member Seedlings classes offer a fun, hands-on way for young children to explore the plant world, while developing an understanding and appreciation for plants. Seedlings programs are offered for three different age groups and are modified to fit the developmental needs of each group. Week of Feb. 1: The Dinosaur Garden, Feb. 8: Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, Feb. 15: A Log’s Life, Feb. 22: Super Succulents
Family Workshop: Chocolate Treats Sunday, February 12, 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. $12 non-member adult, $10 member adult; $17 non-member child, $15 member child Explore the chocolate tree and its celebrated history. Follow the journey of a cacao bean and discover how chocolate is made. Join us and create a box of delicious chocolate treats to take home.
Homeschool Day: Be a Botanist Monday, February 27, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. $12 per child; One adult per child is free of charge. Additional adults and non-participating siblings over the age of two: $7 Spend a day in the boots of a botanist and investigate plants like a scientist. Discover how plants are classified, examine specimens from the Kathryn Kalmbach Herbarium, and learn how botanists protect rare plant species as you get a behind-the-scenes look at some of the things a botanist might do. Homeschool Days offer families the opportunity to explore plant-based themes through a variety of hands-on activities, tours and take-home projects that families can do together. Activities are designed for children ages five and up, however all ages are welcome to attend.
