The Garden is sharing the spirit of the season with an abundance of festivities sure to create lasting memories for your family. Enjoy the return of the colorful Gardenland Express holiday flower and train show, two weekends filled with holiday carols and visits with Santa, resplendent holiday décor, traditional Chanukah and Kwanzaa celebrations and for the first time ever, the Garden Glow Outdoor Light Exhibit! For the first time in the Garden’s history, hundreds of thousands of lights will adorn the Climatron®, Kaeser Memorial Maze, Central Axis, Tower Grove House and other iconic locations with unique color combinations. Walkways will be transformed into sensory light tunnels as visitors experience the exhibit’s visual magic. There will be music throughout the installation including a “Snow Ball” in the Central Axis complete with “Dr. Frost and the Freeze Team,” a disc jockey and dancers who will perform choreographed routines. The exhibit will also include a traditional candlelight village and an interactive area where visitors can decorate life-size snowmen. Food and drinks will be available at a number of locations on the grounds including stations featuring fire pits for s’more-making. Special Glow gear will be sold throughout the grounds and in the Garden Gate Shop. The exhibit opens Nov. 23, 2013 and runs through Jan. 4, 2014. The annual Gardenland Express holiday flower and train show is a beloved seasonal tradition at the Garden. Watch as eight G-scale model trains wander through a floral wonderland of more than 500 colorful poinsettias and other blooming plants. This year’s display is themed “Gathering for the Feast” and promises to delight visitors of all ages with six tracks of animated model trains and hundreds of traditional holiday plants. Whimsical animals and decorated banquet tables produce a lively, festive display to conclude the Garden’s 2013 Foodology theme featured in 2013. Visitors will see maGardenland Expresske-believe woodland creatures gathering edible plants for their grand holiday feast. Experience this seasonal favorite on display from Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013 through Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily (closed December 25). Show admission varies by date: Nov. 23 through Dec 19: $5 (ages 3 and older) and Dec. 20 through Jan. 5: $7 (ages 3 and older). Free for Garden members Nov. 23-Jan 5.
